| From 1952-55 Howard Cassady played for the Ohio State University football team with whom he scored 37 touchdowns in 36 games. During the Buckeyes’ ’54 National Championship season finishing 10-0 Cassady placed third in the voting for the Heisman Trophy Award. The following year however he won the Heisman Trophy by the largest margin at the time. That same year he won the Maxwell Award and was named the Associated Press Athlete of the Year. Overall he held some Ohio state records including 2 466 rushing yards 4 403 all-purpose yards and a scoring record of 222 points. As a reference to the fictional character the nickname “Hopalong” was given to Cassady by sportswriters who saw him play as he “hopped all over the field like the performing cowboy.” Howard Cassady has hand-signed this 8” x 10” photo of himself during his former Buckeyes years. It comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity from Palm Beach Autographs and a photographic print of Cassady during the actual signing. | $70.00 |
